white oak and walnut, fluorescent paint, asphalt, steel

    8 x 5 x 5’

original site: Middle Branch Park, Baltimore, MD

North Laurel Community Center, MD 2021-2022

Originally created for Baltimore’s Art on the Waterfront 2019 Temporary Exhibit in Middle Branch Park from 6-11/2019. Sited as a wayfinding piece to draw visitors to an underutilized trailhead, the fluorescent color, while playful, references the buried landfill and toxic industrial history of the park. As the light changes through the day, the sculpture’s color shifts from pink to red. Carved of local treefall, the sculpture has a central steel core to strengthen and unify the interlocking pieces.
